Jorge Carranza-del Rio, MD
Pediatric Neurologist
Dr. Jorge Carranza-del Río is a specialist in pediatric neurology and neurorehabilitation with a special interest in children with cerebral palsy and movement disorders. Dr. Carranza was trained in medicine, pediatrics and pediatric neurology in Mexico City. After his residence he moved to Dallas in order to receive training on neurorehabilitation at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children / University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center under a two-year fellowship program. Dr. Carranza has co-authored four peer-reviewed papers and two book-chapters on the topics of spasticity and dystonia. Dr. Carranza practices in Celaya, Mexico where he established and coordinates the Motor Control Clinic and Neuromuscular Clinic at the Celaya Rehabilitation Center APAC since 2007. He is assistant professor in Neurology at the Universidad Latina Medical School and has been a professor in three different university programs on Physical Therapy. Dr. Carranza-del Río is currently the president of the Mexican Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Neurorehabilitation Disorders and he is an active member of the Mexican Pediatric Neurology Society, American Academy of Neurology and American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
